From the final draft, my classmates suggested that I could either use slider or interactive map to present my ideas. I think that slider is more appropriate for describing chronological sequences; while interactive map offers users a quick overview. The latter better serves the purpose of the design of my assignment.

In this course, I have learnt a great deal about the literature and theories with regard to interactive learning. In addition to the theoretical enrichment, I appreciate the practical side of this course. I learnt how to design and produce my own flash learning programme. Using flash as a learning media is much better than learning via traditional methods, as it enables learners to learn by their own pace and interest.

I encountered the following difficulties in dealing with this individual assignment. Scripts in flash programme are quite difficult to master. I have to refer to some additional references in the library to master the necessary scripts for the assignment. The speed and the response of the blog server were very slow, especially during the peak hours, i.e. evenings. This made the upload process very slow and retarded the efficiency. I suggest utilizing the CITE resources to open a blog server, instead of using an overseas blog server.

In this course, no matter during the lessons or other non-lesson time, my classmates have been very helpful and provide a lot of positive contributions and comments. This convinces me that using blog as a teaching and learning platform is very successful.

Effective teaching and learning

Effective teaching and learning takes place when a variety of teaching strategies are provided in the classroom and when the emphasis is on gaining understanding rather than just right answers. Different methods are appropriate for different areas of knowledge.

Students have different learning preferences i.e. some are more visual learners, some like working in groups, some prefer the written word.

A monotonous diet of the same teaching style will cause even the most keen student to lost interest.

The need for variety

Effective learning activities are those that require students to process information rather than transfer information or answer questions without understanding.

Therefore a good visual display should highlight the“variety”of your learning objective.
